Relax in the tranquil and peaceful setting of large well grassed and open camping areas. Enjoy the peace 'n' quite away from the daily grind of a busy city life. Explore the natural surrounds or just chill out and relax with a coldie. The long cool waters and stony rapids of the Albert River, also offer a welcome relief from the summer heat.
String a hammock and snooze or read a book by the creek. There are large fields that offer kids a great area to run around and play in. For the more energetic, go cycling, bushwalkingand explore the local natural environment. For the fitter and more experienced the higher treed areas and rocky out crops will reward you with magnificent views of the valley and mountains around. Please advise us and your fellow campers of your intentions just in case you may require assistance.
Lamington National Park adjoins the property. For the very experiencedonly, please notify the Ranger first if you do decide to do some trekking as there are no marked trails. This is only for the well equipped and use extreme caution as this is a wilderness area.
You may encounter some of the "local natives" sometime during your stay. If so, give them a wide birth and please refrain from feeding them as they may not be domesticated and may still a bit wild and unmanageable !!
The night sky on a clear night (as it mostly is) exposes a vast canopy of stars that those in the city would never experience. The magnificent moonlight on most nights provides enough illumination so as not to require any lighting if you so wish. Sip on a cuppa beside your campfire and swap a few yarns with your fellow campers. Strum a quitar, toast a marshmellow, maybe read a book or just snooze the rest of the night away.
For those that want to go 4 wheel driving, try Duck Creek Road which is the 4 wd access to O'Reilly's. It is a challenging but also suitable for the less experienced, with many scenic delights and O'Reilly's Guest House awaiting you at the end for a well earned cup of tea, or bring your own picnic basket. Why not sample a drop or three of fine wine at the Canungra Vineyards , Witches Falls Wineryor the Tamborine Estate Wineries . Maybe a trip to the Tamborine Mountain Distillery is more to your liking. Christmas Creek and Lost World are also only a short drive away.
For more information on what to do in the area, visit the Beaudesert Tourism website.
There is no 4 wheel driving as such on the Butinga property in order to preserve as much of the natural environment as possible against erosion. Strictly no motorbikes allowed.
